Deuteronomy 8:6–11 — A Call to Obey
Have you ever paused to look back over your life and wondered how you made it through? The doors that opened, the battles you didn’t have to fight, the provision that came just in time, the strength you had when you should have crumbled—none of it happened by accident. It was God. And you better act like you know.
In Deuteronomy 8:6–11, Moses reminds the children of Israel to obey the Lord their God and not forget who brought them through the wilderness. It’s a word for us today. After all you’ve come through—after the tears, the tests, the trials, and even the triumphs—you must never forget who brought you out.
“When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.” (Deut. 8:10)
It wasn’t your education. It wasn’t your connections. It wasn’t luck, hustle, or grind. It was God. He fed you when you were hungry, kept you when you were weak, healed you when you were broken, and covered you when you didn’t even know you were in danger.
This passage is more than a history lesson—it’s a warning: Don’t get comfortable and forget. When your blessings start flowing and your life begins to look like the promises God made, don’t dare take the credit.
Obedience is our response to remembrance.
When we remember what God has done, our hearts should be moved to obey His Word, walk in His ways, and trust Him completely. Acting like we know means living with humility, gratitude, and a desire to honor Him with every part of our lives.
So today, let this be your reminder:
You better act like you know…
That it was God who made a way.
That it was God who brought you out.
That it is God who keeps you still.
And if you truly know—it’s time to live like it!
